Cleaning grease off kitchen cabinets

Somehow, even if you don't use a lot of grease in your cooking, after a month or two, the cabinets seem to be covered in grease. It's sticky and hard to get off and heaven forbid if your house is a little dusty or you have a pet-dust and pet hair stick to it like nothing else. If you wipe it with a paper towel, it just sticks or tears into pieces and if you spray it with cleaners, the grease turns into a gummy mess. Have no fear; there is a very simple solutionsoap and water! One part dish soap or laundry soap to two parts water makes one of the best cleaners for removing grease. The soap, especially dish soap, has special grease-cutting ingredients, so it's no wonder it works so well.

If the soap and water solution doesn't do the trick, another good grease fighter is vinegar. A vinegar, water mix will clean the grime of cabinets nicely. Vinegar can even be used full strength for stubborn dirt and it won't ruin the finish of wood cabinets.

Cleaning water stains off kitchen cabinets

Water stains are a common problem in kitchen cabinets, especially those near dishwashers or sinks. The marks left by water can leave your cabinets looking old and worn out way before their time. Many people think the only way to remove water stains is to sand and refinish. However, there are a few simple things you can try before you resort to that.

The first thing to try on water stains is toothpaste, who knew? Toothpaste is a gentle abrasive, and the paste, not gel, kind of toothpaste, buffed onto the stain with a dry cloth may just get rid of it. A paste made of baking soda and water works in a way similar to the toothpaste; just leave it on a little longer, about 30 minutes.
