On October 29, 2012 we were severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. As a result of this we had to replace many of the items in our home including our kitchen cabinets.

Although we live in Staten Island, New York we decided that we would purchase our cabinets in New Jersey. We searched on line and listed kitchen cabinet places we could visit.

The first cabinet place was not a good experience. It seemed disorganized and not very helpful. I was not comfortable with this organization and as we walked out I told my husband that we should just keep looking.

Our next choice on our list was the Solid Wood Company.

We walked in and I like the set up from the start. Each kitchen was set up beautifully where you could picture how it would look in our own home. We were met by a lovely employee named Alice Gitau who quickly came to our aid and offered to help us with any questions that we may have. She told us to take our time and look around and she would be available to help us when we were ready. She allowed us to explain to her what we had experienced in the storm and what type of kitchen cabinets we had in mind for our kitchen.

She took us around and showed us in detail the various cabinets and all the additional items we could purchase to make our kitchen just the way we wanted. She was extremely helpful and she let us take our time and she answered all of our questions.

She even designed a diagram of our current kitchen space and showed us how each of these cabinet examples would look in our kitchen. She added additional items to the diagram to accommodate all of our needs.

She made the process easy by giving us a step by step process so that everything would fall into place. This was important as Solid Woods granite supplier is a separate company that we would be dealng with to install our granite counters and sink.

We ended up purchasing not only the cabinets but the granite for the kitchen and island. We are very pleased with our new kitchen and we could not have gone through this process without Alices patiece and assistance.

For this reason we would like to thank Alice for all her assistance. Our kitchen is now complete and beautiful. We have already recommended the Solid Wood Company and Alice to many of our neighbors, who may want to redesign their kitchens.

Hey Mike,

Liz got her cabinets delivered to day a week earlier than we planned. Someone called me early in the week asking if we wanted delivery today of course I said yes. She gave me other info regarding delivery. Yesterday a Kirk called and said delivery window was between 10 and 1 Driver called this morning saying he was about 10 to 15 mins away. Just telling you this to say I was very impressed with everything re:this company from the moment Liz and I sat down with you for the very first time. Hopefully you and Keith can develop a relationship since he is active in the field than I am and was just doing Liz a favor. I would certainly recommend SWC to anyone considering re doing a kitchen or bath. Everything was satisfactory. Appreciate all that you did.

To Whom it May Concern,On May 17, 2012, Oscar and Emerson installed our granite counter-tops. I could not have asked for a better job from a better team. Oscar and Emerson were knowledgeable, polite, kind and hardworking! Even though, I received a call from the customer service department the night before letting me know the approximate instillation time, Emerson called me mid-afternoon to provide me with a definitive time. They arrived within five minutes of the specified time! Emerson and Oscar did a wonderful job with the install. They worked so hard, matching the seams in the sink area (you cant even see the seams)!!!

They also answered all of my questions about sealing the granite and how to do it!
As Emerson was working on the sink, Oscar took the time to teach me how to seal, how often and what to use! My husband and I were and still are impressed with their work.
No shortcuts were taken and the counter-tops, bar and under-mounted sink look fantastic!

I hope that Emerson and Oscar are able to come back to finish our back-splash! If not, I look forward to working with the next team.I hope some one at Solid Wood Cabinets takes the time to recognize Emerson and Oscar! They were great. A few words about my experience below:When I received my Society Hill cabinets, I was pleased to see that they were actually as beautiful as the ones pictured on Solid Wood Cabinets website. I was further pleased to discover that their dimensions and squareness were exact, essential to achieve a professional installed result.These cabinets are solidly manufactured and look just as good as expensive cabinets that you would get through a contractor. Just a quick note to express my satisfaction with the delivery process this morning.

I was notified that my delivery was to arrive this morning between 8-10 am. Around 8:20 I received a call from Brett informing me that he would arrive in 15 minutes. As promised, he arrived on time and clearly introduced himself and his partner Randy. We discussed the placement of the delivery and he began to unload a 100+ piece order. Brett and Randy were efficient and well organized.

After the delivery was neatly stored away, they checked the delivery against the packing list and identified each piece. They also identified the items on backorder and informed me to call my salesman to inform him of the backorder. He explained that those items will be delivered as soon as available. They also reviewed the process to report damaged items and asked if everything was done to my satisfaction. Obviously, I was pleased. In 30 minutes the delivery was complete in the most professional manner. Randy placed two lawn signs on my lawn and they checked for my satisfaction once again.

I am in the customer service business and I know how difficult it can be to deliver WOW service on a consistent basis. Please know that I ALWAYS recognize great service when I experience it. Many people would say It was just a delivery, but I know to deliver such service, there is a great deal of emphasis placed on training and execution. This was not just a delivery; it was a first class job! Please thank Brett and Randy for their efforts and professionalism.
