Custom is the word for the most used section of your home with our kitchen cabinets. From our top and base cabinets, to our kitchen islands, custom built in pantry cabinets, kitchen built in corner cabinets, or China cabinets Artisan Specialties is the company for your dream home or kitchen remodeling ideas. I build unfinished kitchen cabinets so my customers can have the pleasure of picking out their choice of stain or paint. When you go straight to the kitchen cabinets mfg. you are looking at a large discount on kitchen cabinets. When you look for kitchen cabinets online you will find my site having more custom options than any other. From our kitchen built-in corner cabinets to our prefab cabinets for delivery. I can hand make wine racks incorporated into the top cabinets of your kitchen or wet bar. A shelf with raised panel glass doors in your kitchen island, Artisan Specialties has a plan for your custom home project. I hand pick all wood that goes into our custom cabinetry, and offer paint grade or stain grade options. Our regular cabinets are made of either birch or oak, but if you have a certain species of wood you would like us to use, just give me a call for a FREE quote on your project today.
Why go through a contractor when this contractor makes all the custom kitchen cabinets? When I make your custom cabinets, you are looking at a substantial discount compared to having your builder contract with my company to do your work and marking it up. How much does a custom made oak kitchen cabinet cost? You will find out more by going HERE.
Hand made custom oak top and bottom kitchen cabinets with a raised bar for eating on the kitchen island. You can not see it in this picture, but the doors above the refrigerator are pocket doors that hide a TV for watching the news while cooking or eating! This kitchen cabinetry has all the frills with oak stained wood corbels, cabinets and doors, not to mention the beautiful solid granite countertop, built in oven and microwave cabinet, with a drop in solid surface cook top to match the kitchen countertop. Needless to say Artisan Specialties did all the interior trim you are looking at from the top of the ceiling to the baseboard on the floor. You can see the custom duel computer desk on the balcony above by clicking right HERE. ITEM 002
The inside of the kitchen island with raised bar. Notice the split doors under the kitchen sink. No center style to get in your way while looking for something way in the back. This is one of my companys trade marks. I do try to think of accessibility with all our projects. You can include a pull out drawer behind those base cabinet doors to make it easy access for all your storage needs. Notice how the three piece crown molding looks? When you have walls over eight feet high you need more than just one piece of crown molding to make it stand out. The main area to the left of this beautiful custom kitchen is a vaulted living room that opens up to a wonderful staircase and large overlooking balcony. No vinyl on these floors! They are all hardwood, tile or marble. Truly a elegant home to own.
This is the back side of the kitchen island with a much better view of the oak corbels and the color of the granite countertop. You and see how the oak grain stands out on the wood of both the kitchen island and top and base cabinets. You can also see how the top cabinets of the kitchen do not go all the way to the ceiling, and how the three piece crown moldings look above them. Beautiful custom cabinets made to the owners specifications. Are these cabinets made on site? You better believe it. Any home you build has a wall that is out of plumb, or a floor that is not level. Building on site allows the ability to compensate for these differences. I have been in new homes where the framer had an eight foot wall that was one and a half inches out of plumb, or a floor that was two inches out of level. Yes you can install prefab cabinets also, but you can only do so much when it comes to being out that much! My advice? Have your builder carry a level, make your framer look down the two x fours to make sure the wall studs do not have an excessive crown to them. There is something I call quality over quantity. But if you only care about the lowest price you might as well add something in to the job to do it right after the job is done, if you know what I mean?
Another angle of the kitchen cabinets shows the inside of the base cabinets. Remember those split doors? I do not stop with just the sinks as you can see. There is a large pot and pan drawer right under the kitchen oven. What I like about the fixtures in this kitchen is the beautiful solid cook top and curved vent hood above it. Both complement the design and color of the oak cabinets. The double doors off in the background hide a nice kitchen pantry capable of storing all your goods. Can you see the kitchen built in corner cabinets? Now if I was asked, would I rather be building cabinets or updating this web site which one would I choose? Boy that would be a hard question to answer.
I got in a hurry on this picture and the next. The doors above the kitchen refrigerator and the twenty two degree door on the top inside corner cabinet are not finished, but you can still get the idea right? The doors above the refrigerator are pocket doors. The doors look great closed, but when you have a modern family, most of us like to watch the news in the morning at least. Yep, the doors hide the cable and electrical outlet for just that TV. If you look to the left you can see the formal dining room with double chair railing and shadow boxing, one x ten base with one and three eights base cap, no TV hahahahaha. Gramps never let us watch the TV while we were eating at the table. Old school for you young people.
The last of this series of pictures for one of my kitchen designs. Essentially a view of the pocket doors over the kitchen refrigerator while they are open. Don't pay any attention to the hardware inside. I just did not move it before I took this picture. So, ready to start your project? Building within 150 miles of Columbia for on the job custom cabinetry? Think your framer has your floors and walls good enough to accommodate everything being prefab? Give me a call today for a FREE quote on your project. The only thing I can guarantee is the finest custom cabinetry in South Carolina. I can use plywood on all cabinet faces to help save some money, (you will not see the layered grain of the plywood stile sides until you open the cabinet doors), or I can use solid wood. I can build cabinets that are both stream line and elegant with the crown molding you see on the top, or a massive headboard with detailed moldings that dominate the ceilings for that WOW effect. Do you have a picture from a magazine of some cabinets that you like the style of? Even better! Give me a call today, and as for Patrick Clark. Thats who is making all the typos on this page, wink.
A different design where you see a forty five degree kitchen top cabinet with raised panel door. The same TV pocket doors as the above, over the kitchen refrigerator, split doors under the sink. The crown molding was too close to the arched window over the sink, so I was forced to scribe the speed base that was used for the three piece crown molding around the RB3 window casing. This is my favorite color of granite countertop. I just love the way it looks! Glancing at the refrigerator hole you can see how the plumber cut the supply box for the ice maker too close for the one x ten base and cap. The only good thing is that it will be behind the unit. Another thing I like about ITEM 017 and this is the long goose neck to the faucet of the kitchen sink. How many of us have had a problem getting those big pots into the sink without some type of problem? This kitchen built in corner cabinet has a glass door for accent.
Pocket doors open you can see the hookup for the cable and electrical on the TV. I love to design cabinets and still after 29 years get goose bumps every now and then. When I go over the design with my clients I really do have fun showing them the different options of building custom cabinetry! I take a whole lot of pride in what I do, as you can see throughout my WebSite. There are not many people left around South Carolina who can do a cut in winder staircase or even bend the hand railing for one! I love to be able to train young people who show an eagerness to learn and be the very best at what they do. For too many years now I have seen the mass production of homes where the old saying goes, you can't see it from my house, or thats nothing, let the painter caulk it! I would be ashamed to show my face on a job if I ever stooped to that level. I do build custom homes, additions, remodeling, and repairs and take great pride in what I do. The contractors who I have listed on my WebSite I have had the privilege to work with for many years. Those fine contractors will never say, I can't see it from my house, or let the painter take care of it! They are craftsmen like myself, and still uphold the highest standards of building. So if you're a builder looking for a trim man, or a homeowner looking for a certified contractor you will find only the best here!
This is a forty fived kitchen base cabinet, or corner cabinet. As you can see from this picture this custom cabinet has no center style between the two doors. This design is called a split door, and gives more access for the plumbing and storage under the sink. Behind the doors is a pull out drawer for the person who does not want to get on their knees to reach something way in the back. The only thing you need to be careful of is the long reach behind the sink of the countertop. Ideally, the best scenario is to have this on the inside wall with no windows. That way you can have the top cabinet coming all the way down to the countertop for additional storage.
Seen here is a picture of a standard kitchen cabinet with one twist. On the end you have open shelves on both the top and bottom of the cabinet. A Solid surface countertop was also installed. Single three and three quarter crown molding is viewed on the top cabinet with a one x on top of the crown with a routed round over. Paint grade material is no where near the cost of stain grade material. You can have the same quality craftsmanship, but save some major money by going paint grade. So before you decide on who is going to build your custom cabinets, decide on what youre going to build them out of. Paint grade material save quite a bit over how much a custom made oak kitchen cabinet would cost! You can see how I turned this kitchen built in corner cabinet into open shelves to display my clients nick knacks.
This is a kitchen island with a small wet bar. That way when your at the sink doing some major cleaning, chopping, or cooking, someone still has the ability to get fresh water for the coffee maker or do some minor cleaning themselves. On the end of this kitchen island are shown split glass doors where you can store all your coffee mugs. Single door under the sink for plumbing access and some storage. Behind the sink on the side that is not shown you have another pair of split doors with a bank of drawers to the left. Islands can be simple or complex. It just depends on the floor space of your home, and your personal taste. I have built many types of kitchen islands, but have only now started taking more pictures of all my custom work.
Another kitchen island with two split doors under the cook top, a bank of drawers on the left side with the last drawer larger for the big stuff. Then you have a single door on the right that really has a pull out trash can behind it, with a single drawer on the top of the door. The back of this kitchen island looks just like the front of it; the design is just flipped over. The top of the countertop is marble with white veins going through it. Having a cook top in the kitchen island frees up space from the kitchen base cabinets, giving you more countertop room. You are only limited by your imagination, so dream of your fantasy cabinetry and then call me to make it your reality.
This top cabinet is hanging directly above the kitchen peninsula. You can see what the owner wanted to do with the additional top cabinet space. Something simple that gives allot of options to store different things. I installed bolts into the ceiling joist to help prevent the top cabinet from falling or settling. I use about a gallon to a gallon and a half of yellow glue, and cases of liquid nails, depending on what I'm doing for my clients. I have always glued my outside forty fives with yellow glue on the inside of a home to help prevent the corners from spreading. Its a no brainer to use glue when you're building cabinets. If your outside, just remember to use a glue that says for exterior purposes on it.
This kitchen base cabinet has three split doors with three matching drawers on top. The doors are single arched raised panel with the hidden European three way adjustable hinges. On the right is seen an adjustable bookcase. While on the left is an attached custom made kitchen wine rack having double doors on top. You really have to love the solid granite countertop with the extra tall back granite backsplash and matching arched side backsplash. These owners really had some cabinets in there home.
This picture shows a yellow pine kitchen base cabinet on the right with an eight foot tall combination oven - microwave cabinet to the left. If you look close you will see that all of the outside corners have forty five degree corners, not the standard ninety degree corners that you see everywhere else. The cabinets also have raised panel yellow pine door and drawer fronts. Needless to say the next three pictures are of my custom cabinetry in log homes. Yes I have personally built cabinetry in some of the most beautiful log homes in S.S. You may ask is it more expensive? Answer; You better believe it if you need to scribe around each log for your cabinetry. If you need to know what I mean by that just click HERE and you will find out. I do not use what is called scribe to cover the inch or more gaps between the circular logs, or walls that are out of plumb installing traditional cabinets. When I build custom cabinets on site that is all figured into the equation.
This is a close up picture of the same cabinet showing in better detail the forty fived outside corners of the eight foot long cabinet, plus the desk base cabinet and top cabinet corners. If you look closely you can even see how I did the same design on the kitchen island to the left. I feel sure that sometime in the near future this owner will change out the old laminated countertop for a solid surface one.
This is one of many different designs you can have when it comes to kitchen pantries. Arched yellow pine doors, with spice shelves behind them. Pull out drawers on the bottom inside. Adjustable shelves for different size boxes. Log homes have a different type of owners, more outdoorsy and back to nature, wanting the tranquility of living away from the suburbs. Be prepared, every three to four years you will need to re-seal the outside of the logs for house maintenance. The ultraviolet rays from the sun are not as forgiving with stained wood. I have even seen hardwood floors in homes that have cheap windows in them fade from the sun, just like your drapes or furniture!
Simple, but effective way to get to all you cleaning supplies under the sink. When you build custom cabinets, think about all the things you can do to help organize your new kitchen and make it more accessible to work or eat in. Helping people plan their dream kitchen is one of my biggest pleasures. Give Artisan Specialties a call today for advice on your next kitchen renovation.
Not one, but two pull outs so the bending over to access all that stuff in the very back is no problem. You can see the concealed three way adjustable European hinges better in this picture. Isn't it amazing how something so simple can make life so much easier?
Let me talk about hardware now. See the kitchen dishwasher on the far left? There is dead space that you can not access to the right of the dishwasher. Solution, a half moon lazy Susan. Combine that with the double pull outs on the right of this specialty hardware and you have another winning combination for your hard to reach areas of the kitchen base cabinets. I have always been proud of my trouble shooting when it comes to accessibility of areas most people would care less abound. To those people it is nothing but dead space. O, and you can't see it from their house right?
Here you have the standard round lazy Susan for the inside corners of your kitchen base cabinets. Once again the concealed three way adjustable European hinges, but this time with one twist. Pay close attention to the inside corner hinges that are holding the two corner doors together. Thats right, their different for just the purpose you see. It helps to know your hardware and when and how it can be used. I installed this lazy Susan after the owner had another company build his cabinets for his new home. Sometimes you can't think of everything, or you just flat run out of money for your project. Only advice I can give is try the best you can to do everything you want the first time. You really do not want to remodel a new kitchen after you move into your new home. I hope that my site has given you some help with the options for your building needs.
You can install tray dividers just about anywhere in your kitchen. The place I like the most to build them in is over the oven microwave cabinet. Most of the time, people are just not tall enough to reach all the way back to get those pots and pans that are stored in these areas. Building tray dividers in this area frees up the space in the other areas that you can easier reach.
Another after someone else did their cabinets picture. Renovating a new kitchen with pull out drawers behind the doors of a kitchen island. Accessibility is the word for any cabinet. What do we do? Store our plates, glasses, pots, pans, and lets not forget the most important thing, food, in our cabinets. Why not make everything as accessible as possible? Tired of looking for that, what ever it is tucked way back out of reach because you only use it to make cakes? Organize, make it accessible. Call me today for a FREE quote.
I must admit I'm not too fond of the cabinet face stiles going all the way to the floor, but some people are. To me they just give the toe kick of the cabinet more corners where dirt can cling. Some people like to accent their toe kicks, or install legs for the cabinet furniture look. Let me ask you another question. Would you like getting on your hands and knees to clean under a cabinet with legs holding it off the floor? Remember this now. If your cabinet has a water supply going to it for a sink, you can't move it, and no, I only clean my construction mess up, not yours my friend. You might want to hire a maid service like I use on some of my remodeling jobs.
