1. Do you need a machine that will strictly act as a juicer, or would you prefer a machine that can also make nut butters, soymilk, and extrude pasta?
A)I would like a machine that acts strictly as a juicer. - Your best bet would be to go with a machine like the Omega Vert Vertical Juicer model or the Omega Mega Mouth Juicer model. These machines focus solely on juicing, and produce some of the tastiest, healthiest juice you'll ever drink.

2. Is counter space/cabinet height an issue?
A)Counter space is an issue. I do not have a lot of counter space in my kitchen. - If counter space is at a premium for you then you may want to consider purchasing the Omega Vert VRT330 Vertical Juicer. This juicer has a small footprint, and is just 6.81" in diameter.
B)Cabinet height is an issue. Q & A with Omega Juicers
Why omega?
Omega has a long history and great warranties. We started as a family business. We go back to the late 1950s. We were the first in the market for some of the products and technologies. It's a great name in history in juicing and people know to come to us for having the products. The nice thing now is companies typically make one style of juicer, but we are actually the only company that makes every style of juicer. So if there's anything you want to be juicing, although what's right for me may not be right for you, we do carry that style model. Omega is a sort of one-stop-shopping.
What's the difference between 8003/8005 & 8004/8006?
The 8003 and 8005 are the same exact machine except for coloring; the 8005 is the chrome version. When you upgrade to the 8004 and 8006, the same thing - the 8006 is the chrome version. When you go from the lower two machines to the higher two machines, it's the auger and warranty that are the difference, plus it's a completely different body style.
The 8004 & 8006 are the most recent generation of Nutrition Centers. They're the "HD" version of the 8003 & 8005. People like the handle that makes it easier to use the 8004 & 8006, and they have a more durable stance that people seem to like.
While the style of juice cup and pulp cup are physically different for the two models due to body style, the machines come with the same accessories.
What does dual stage masticating extraction mean?
When you put a carrot into the machine, the auger has a pretty wide opening where just it basically brutally breaks apart that carrot into smaller pieces. Once it gets past that stage and gets to the second stage, it's actually more of a fine squeezing process where it grips the material and squeezes it against the screen to now extract the juice from it. It's just the transition of what happens when it first hits that auger to what it does during that second portion.
What does it mean to say "1/3 Horsepower 3600 RPM motor gears down to 80 RPMs 2 horsepower with gear reduction?"
This is a tricky one. If you talk to an engineer they'll say it's impossible. You can't change a horsepower. What that means is if you take something that's high speed and gear it down to a lower speed, you're giving it a lot more torque. So if you were to have that high-speed machine trying to do the carrot it wouldn't really work because it's only 1/3 horsepower. But because that high-speed machine can easily go to gear-reduction and turn it at that slower speed, now it has enough torque to actually crunch through carrot after carrot. So it works at what we estimate to be the equivalent of a 2 horsepower motor if we were to try to do it through a direct drive where the shaft of the motor is directly connected to the auger. If we were to do a 2 horsepower motor at 80 rpms, the machine would be bigger and much more expensive.
It's just like a car. If you were to put it into fourth gear and try and pull away, it's not going to happen. If you try and drive it in first gear and do 40 mph, you'll get that high revving. It's trying to take that high-speed engine but be able to work at a low speed and pull a lot of weight.
What is a GE Ultem Auger?It's the trademark name of the heavy duty plastic used, from General electric.
Can the Mega Mouth handle leafy greens?
Mega mouth can handle leafy greens to a certain extent. It cannot handle wheat grass. Most high-speed juicers will handle leafy greens if you take kale or spinach and roll it into a ball and put it down the chute and instead of using the pusher, you use the carrot to push the greens down into the blade. You'll get some juice out of the greens just like other high-speed juicer, but it's not a "greens" juicer. So yes and no.
Are the pulp bins detachable?Yes.
What's dishwasher safe?
Most machines we promote them as top-shelf, but it's actually easier to hand-wash a juice extractor. The reason being if you look at the mega mouth juicer, it has a mesh screen. If you put that into the dishwasher, it's stainless steel so it'll be fine. But if there is pulp stuck to the screen before you put it into the dishwasher, a dishwasher is not designed to get that out. It's actually going to make it harder to get it out because the dishwasher is going to bake it into the screen a little bit. Almost all of the machines have a mesh like that, and it'll take you two minutes to run it under the water but probably 10 minutes to clean the pulp off if you put it into the dishwasher. All top-shelf parts, but we recommend hand-wash.
How would you characterize the three styles of Omega juicers?
The Mega Mouth is a high-speed, mainstream juicer that will do most fruits and vegetables, some leafy greens, it's for quick and fast mainstream juicing.
When you get to the nutrition center, it's a fruit & vegetable juicer, it does do the wheat grass and leafy greens, it will also do the non-juicing function like the nutter-butters and frozen desserts.
When you get to the vertical style machines, that will do every single juice that the nutrition center does, but it just won't do the non-juicing functions like the nutter-butters and the mincing and so on.
So if it's wheat grass, you can go nutrition center or the Vert. If it's carrots and apples, you can go with any of the machines. The benefit of the low speed, which is the nutrition center and the Vert, over the high-speed which is the Mega Mouth, is the Mega Mouth and other high-speed juicers out there, they all aerate the juice, which means after 20 or 30 minutes the degradation of the enzymes is so bad that most people shouldn't even bother drinking the juice after 30 minutes. Whereas with the low-speed machines like the nutrition center and the Vert, they don't oxidize the juice so you can actually store the juice for up to 72 hours.
Is there any aluminum in the machines?
No, the Omega juicers are made of stainless steel and plastics. The housing of the 8005 and the 8006 has a true chrome plating, but it does not come in contact with the juice.
