Measure behind the front stile of your cabinet, and cut a 2x4 to fit this length. Secure it in place behind the stile using construction adhesive and a nail gun. With the front 2x4 in place, measure the length behind the side stiles of your cabinets. Cut two pieces of 2x4 to fit behind the side stiles. Glue and nail the sides into place.
Cut a piece of 1x4 to the length of the front of your cabinet. Glue and nail it to the 2x4. Measure and cut two more pieces of 1x4 for the sides of the cabinet, and glue and nail them to the side piece of the 2x4.
Measure the length of the side of the cabinet. Cut a 45-degree angle into a piece of baseboard so the length from the deepest part of the 45-degree cut to the flat end of the baseboard is the same as the length of the side of the cabinet. Repeat this process with another piece of baseboard and a 45-degree angle for the other side of the cabinet.
Measure the front of the cabinet. Take a piece of baseboard that is longer than the front of the cabinet, and cut a 45-degree angle off one side. Measure out and mark this baseboard with the length of the front of your cabinet, starting from the deepest part of the 45-degree cut. Cut a 45-degree angle off the opposite side, so the deepest part of the cut meets the mark just made. The inside of the "V" made is the same length as the front of the cabinet.
Dry fit the baseboard by holding the front piece and a side piece against the front and side of the cabinet. Make sure the pieces are together and in place snugly. Use a pin nailer to nail into the corners of the two pieces. Glue this piece to the 1x4, and nail it into place along the top. Dry fit the final side piece of baseboard, and nail and glue it into place.
Dry fit the crown molding by holding the front piece and a side piece against the front and side of the baseboard (Image 1). Make sure the pieces are together and in place snugly. Use a pin nailer to nail into the corners of the two pieces of crown molding (Image 2). Using a nail gun, nail the crown to the baseboard. Dry fit the final side piece of crown molding, and nail it into place.
Measure the length of the side pieces. Cut a 45-degree angle into a piece of crown molding so the length from the inside of the cut to the end of the piece of molding equals the length of the side of the baseboard. Repeat this process with another piece of crown molding.
Measure the length of the front piece of baseboard. Take a piece of crown molding longer than the front of the cabinet and cut a 45-degree angle off one side. Measure and mark the molding with the length of the front piece of baseboard, starting from the deepest part of the 45-degree cut. Cut a 45-degree angle off the opposite side, so the deepest part of the cut meets the mark just made. The inside of the "V" made is the same length as the front piece of baseboard on the cabinet.
