Glass inserts in kitchen cabinets are beautiful and functional. A glass insert allows you to easily see what is in the cabinets. Glass inserts also allow you to showcase or fine china. Homeowners can easily convert their wood panel cabinet doors to glass inserts.
Things You'll Need
Screwdriver
Router
Damp cloth
Silicone caulk
Glass insert
Utility knife
Plastic frame clips
Screws

Use a screwdriver to remove the cabinet doors from the kitchen cabinets.

Determine that the cabinet door has a wood panel in the door. If you have a solid door it is better to simply replace the doors than try to install glass panels.

Remove the wood panel. Use a router to route cut away the inside edge of the door, allowing the panel to slide out of the door like a picture slides out of a picture frame. Use caution and avoid cutting the panel while removing the wood surrounding the panel.

Clean the groove where the removed wood panel sat. Use a damp cloth to gently wipe down the groove in preparation for the glass insert.

Apply a bead of silicone caulk around the groove of the wood door. Once the silicone has been applied, gently press the glass insert into place. If the silicone spreads to areas on the glass where it shouldn't be, simply allow it to dry and remove with a utility knife.

Install plastic frame clips around the perimeter of the glass insert. Use screws to hold the clips into place. Install the clips every few inches, and be sure to drill a small pilot hole for each of the screws to avoid splitting the cabinet door.
