Kitchen cabinets are available in a myriad of styles. But if they have removable shelves, they are all held in place the same way. There are holes on either side of the cabinet at equal heights to each other. Inserted into the holes are plastic brackets that have a section that protrudes. The shelf is placed on top of the plastic brackets. Over time and with use, the plastic brackets can wear out and even break, causing the shelf to wobble or lean. Replacing the plastic brackets takes just a few minutes.

Remove the shelf from the cabinet where the brackets are being replaced. Push up on the shelf and tilt it to pull it out from the cabinet.

Pull out the old brackets by hand. If they appear to be stuck, spray a lubricant on them and try to remove them with a pair of pliers.

Push the new brackets into the holes in the side of the cabinet where the old brackets were removed. Ensure that the protruding part of the bracket is horizontal. Insert the bracket on each side at the same height so the shelf does not tilt.

Place the shelf into the cabinet on top of the brackets. You may need to tilt the shelf to get it into the cabinet.
